Students gain the experience and acquire the skills necessary to use the English language at a high level. Teachers set milestones and goals for each student, with constant evaluation. This sets the pace for each learner to surpass their academic expectations.
Course aims
This course aims to provide the student with the ability to take control of the way they interact with others.
A very complete programme
This course gives the learner the ability to speak with clarity and to take control of the way they present themselves when speaking.
The tutor guides the learner through listening and speaking exercises which develop accuracy in understanding the power of speech and how to engage an audience.
Recommended total number of lessons is 15 lessons (3 modules each of 5 lessons).
Each module focuses on a specific aspect of the skills required for speaking with clarity. All 3 modules form a programme of 15 hours which gives the learner the ability to speak with clarity and confidence.

Module I - The Power of the Spoken Word
- Examples of how the spoken word can inspire and motivate
- Analysis of some examples of powerful speeches and storytelling
Module 2 - Engage the Audience
- Authentic voice
- Making a connection

Module 3 - Voice control
- Rhythm of speech
- Speed, volume and pace
- Voice projection
Module 4 - Emphasis, intonation and enunciation
- The correct use of stress to add emphasis
- The use of intonation and rhythm
- Clarity of enunciation
Module 5 - 21st Century Oratory Skills
- Practice of the pause to emphasise the message
- Opening and closing - the speaker is in control
Learning outcomes
By the end of this course, the student is expected to be able to:
- Enjoy the opportunity to give a talk or presentation
- Communicate ideas or projects with clarity
- Regulate the tone, volume, pace of their speaking as required
- Deliver a talk with clarity and warmth
Staying in a homestay gives participants the chance to be fully immersed into the local culture of the destination, whilst also being able to practise the language in a relaxed and natural setting. Many homestays have been welcoming our students into their homes for many years, offering their hospitality and expanding our students cultural horizons. Homestay arrivals are on the Sunday before the course begins, and departures are on the Saturday after the course ends.

For almost a millennium Oxford has been a hub of learning and academia.
A small university city, Oxford is easily navigable and students are quickly able to settle in and feel comfortable. The city has a bustling centre, with numerous shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as opportunities to explore the rich history and culture through museums, galleries and theatres. The centre of the city is also close to several parks and open spaces, allowing students to spend time outdoors and enjoying nature.
