Tutored English: one-to-one lessons with a personal tutor
Tutorial™
Key points
Students train to gain experience and acquire the skills necessary to use the language at a high level - teachers push students to achieve to the maximum of their potential, and set milestones and goals for each student, with constant evaluation. This sets the pace for each learner to surpass their academic expectations and achieve more than they thought possible.
Individual tuition provides participants with a learning experience tailored to their precise needs. The scholar is assigned a range of tutors throughout the day, who adopt the style and pace of their pedagogical approach to ensure that the individual before them can perform as confident speakers of their second language.
The course exposes learners to a range of authentic sources from different academic subjects, piquing their intellectual curiosity alongside exposing them to different styles and registers, as well as new vocabulary and structures. Students debate, discuss and analyse these sources, leading to increased confidence and fluency alongside enhanced critical thinking skills.

'I wanted to prepare for my summer exams because I was worried about the written English exam. My spoken English is good, but when I write my essays, I find it hard to structure them and to organise the information. So, my focus was to develop a good style. We did this by practising over and over again until it became natural for me.'
-
'Before the course, I thought that my spoken English was stronger than my written English. But I discovered that there was a lot more that I could do to improve it. I enjoyed working on it and getting it even better. English vocabulary is changing all the time and I like that I now feel up to date.'
-
'This was the first time that I have ever studied with a personal tutor (except for when I learned piano!). I liked it because I was able to focus completely and lose myself in the lesson. It worked well for me because I need to concentrate when I study.'
