In Dawlish, OISE offers its students the opportunity to acquire a natural command of English. It is by enjoying the charm of the British seaside resort that students aged 15 to 17 from all over the world come together. The town is known for its fishing and some of the best beaches in the UK. Characteristic country houses, impressive villas, narrow streets, numerous shops, the famous black swans, beautiful teahouses and the singing of the seagulls, make Dawlish a charming destination.

The classes are limited to 8 students per class are the guarantee of an intense linguistic stay. The school only accepts around 30 students to form a small and intimate community of motivated students who immerse themselves in English in an area close to their hearts.

For the year 2019, OISE offers two language courses in Dawlish.

The Future Novelist
The Future Diplomat

The Future Diplomat and The Future Novelist are full-time courses with 27 full hours per week.  The small groups of students allow the tutor to concentrate fully on each student. Due to the high intellectual level of this course, a B2 English level is required. In addition to learning and improving literary or diplomatic skills, the curriculum also includes cultural activities so that our students can immerse themselves fully in the English language and culture during their stay.

Leisure & Cultural Programme

When the school day finishes, students have the late afternoon to focus on their homework. Afterwards they have the opportunity to participate in at least one leisure activity per week. These activities range from  football, cricket, volleyball, tennis, boat trips, beach activities and theatre workshops. Every Saturday there is a day trip to the Barbican Waterfront, National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth or the city of Exeter. Sunday is spent with host families.

On weekday afternoons and weekends, OISE Dawlish offers a variety of activities to encourage young people to use English in all possible contexts, allowing them to apply the language in new registers, giving them the opportunity to learn vocabulary and new ways of interacting in English as the context requires.

Among the activities organised are theatre workshops, sports competitions, mini-disco, team games, talent contests, barbecues, movies, bowling and movie nights.

Devon is home to some of the UK's finest beaches and traditional seaside resorts, of which Dawlish, on the south coast of the county, is no exception. Situated 300km south west of London, this small but lively town has played host to many happy holiday makers over the years.

Dawlish is located in Teignbridge on the south coast of Devon, close to Exeter. The city grew during the 18th century from a small fishing port to a prestigious beach resort, its transformation being closely linked to the introduction of rail service, which contributed to an increase in the number of visitors. The train station is located in the centre of the city, next to the beach.

Dawlish is known for its beach and lush parks where visitors can enjoy the characteristic black swans. This small Victorian coastal town has attracted authors such as Charles Dickens and Jane Austen.
