Devon is home to some of the UK's finest beaches and traditional seaside resorts, of which Dawlish, on the south coast of the county, is no exception.
Situated 300km south west of London, this small but lively town has played host to many happy holiday makers over the years.
Dawlish is located in Teignbridge on the south coast of Devon, close to Exeter. The city grew during the 18th century from a small fishing port to
a prestigious beach resort, its transformation being closely linked to the introduction of rail service, which contributed to an increase in the
number of visitors. The train station is located in the centre of the city, next to the beach.
Dawlish is known for its beach and lush parks where visitors can enjoy the characteristic black swans. This small Victorian coastal town has attracted
authors such as Charles Dickens and Jane Austen.
