Founded in 71AD, York is situated at the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss. The city has borne witness to Roman, Saxon and Viking settlers, and with this rich historical past has been the capital of the North for nearly 2000 years. The ancient city walls still exist and contain the network of tiny cobbled streets which now play host to a number of cafes and quirky independent shops.
Further afield, Yorkshire has many attractions. The North Yorkshire Moors are not far outside the city and the traditional steam railway still runs taking walkers and sightseers up to the seaside fishing town of Whitby, providing breathtaking rugged scenery along the way.
OISE York takes place in Queen Ethelburga’s College, new for 2010. A quintessential English boarding school, our students will want for nothing. Located in 100 acres of rural countryside, it has luxurious accommodation and facilities which are second-to-none.
