OISE Oxford’s aim is for all students to achieve their objectives, be they academic, professional or personal, and leave the school with increased confidence in their ability to use English in their world and for the purposes they require. Providing courses tailored to the needs of each individual allows us to ensure that each student’s experience is rewarding, challenging but most importantly effective.
Established over 43 years ago, OISE Oxford still places the original method of tuition - the Tutorial - at the centre of all course design. Analysing the needs of the individual and negotiating a personalised plan in terms of each student’s goals is a key feature of not just the Tutorial Programmes but also of the Quatorial Programmes, where working in a small group of 2 - 4 students ensures tailored tuition is still possible.
OISE Oxford also has the advantage of an experienced team of Tutors with specific subject, exam and industry knowledge, allowing each student to be matched with a Tutor who can really focus on the English they need to develop to be successful. Students who choose OISE Oxford should be ambitious and motivated. They should expect to be challenged and to experience a language course where they are at the centre of everything.
Tutorial lessons are one of the most effective methods of language learning. Our Tutorial courses offer 15, 20, 25 or 30 hours of one to one tuition per week. The Tutorials are fully adapted to the precise level and needs of each participant which ensures maximum progress is made. Students benefit from having a team of 3 or 4 Tutors, exposing them to a variety of accents and teaching styles making this a stimulating and challenging option.Tutorial Sample Timetable 2017
Students who are looking for the opportunity to study mostly on a one-to one basis but also to work in small, international groups can choose the Integrated Tutorial Programme. This course combines Tutorial lessons with Workshops giving students the opportunity to benefit from both personal, need-driven tuition and developing their intercultural understanding and communication skills.Integrated Tutorial Profile Sheet
Students spend 17.5 hours per week studying in small groups of 2-4 students where the focus is on developing their ability to understand and communicate confidently, as well as present, in English. The Quatorial groups are formed based on the level, age and profile of the students and the course content is negotiated with the group’s Tutors each week. Quatorial students participate in a Critical Analysis Workshop where they develop their ability to think critically and articulate these thoughts in English. Students also attend the Spoken Assertiveness Workshop; a mixed level workshop of 8 students, which aims to prepare students for the reality of having to communicate effectively in an ever changing global environment.Quatorial Solo Profile Sheet

Available all year round, this course allows students the opportunity to prepare for the IELTS exam in a small group of 2 - 4 students. The course ensures students develop the language and strategies required to perform to the best of their ability in the exam. Progress is closely monitored via weekly full mock tests, and students can expect to be challenged and to become more autonomous learners through the structure and rigour of the course.IELTS Course Profile Sheet 2017
The cultural programme is an integral part of the course as it gives students the opportunity to experience the English language and learn about British culture in a more informal setting. OISE Oxford offers students 5 cultural activities per week, all of which are included in the course price. The activities vary from week to week depending on which events are happening in Oxford, and each activity is chosen for its cultural or linguistic value. Typical activities include a traditional afternoon tea, punting, walking tours, museum and college visits, theatre and cinema trips, concerts and weekend visits to Bath or London.
There is also a welcome party for new students every Monday and a farewell lunch on Fridays to say goodbye to students who are leaving. Click here to see OISE Oxford’s sample summer and winter leisure programmes.
