Spaces for focused study
OISE London is housed in a Grade I listed building, former home of famous English diarist Samuel Pepys (1633 – 1703). The school spans three floors and
has been carefully modernised in accordance with OISE’s unique approach to language learning featuring spacious and light classrooms in which small
groups of students can thrive.
The school boasts a lecture theatre for group presentations, a debating chamber and a computer suite, as well as our Drawing Room, where learners can
enjoy a comfortable break between lessons with the newspapers of the day. WiFi is available throughout the building. Designed with the students' needs in mind,
this environment not only supports but enhances the learning experience.
OISE’s Tutorial™ Programme engages students in one-to-one situations with experienced tutors. This allows the learner to focus on their individual
interests and ambitions so that it is both relevant and meaningful at all times. This leads to accelerated learning and increased confidence in a range
of professional or academic situations. Learners are not restricted to one tutor, but have 3 or 4 specialist teachers throughout the day so that they
are exposed to a wide range of teaching styles, regional accents and specialist knowledge.
The Tutorial course can be combined with lessons in small groups on the Integrated Tutorial Programme, allowing the learner to also benefit from peer
discussion, social interaction and presentation skills.
The Quatorial™ programme is an excellent way for students to
develop their confidence and performance skills in English. By working together in small groups (2 - 4 students) with learners of a similar age, level
of English and professional or academic background they are able to negotiate course content with their tutors each week. This ensures that students
only study what is relevant and necessary for their future development and that no time is wasted on topics or language that they will never need.
The daily timetable is designed to by expose students to a range of lesson types and methodology and comprises 22.5 hours per week in Quatorial lessons
(max. 4 students) and 5 hours per week of Spoken Assertiveness Workshop (max. 8 students). The overall focus is on communication and presentation skills
so that students leave the course feeling both more confident and empowered on return to their workplace or study environment.
The Quatorial™ can be combined with Tutorial sessions to further polish the student’s language.
