General information
- Situated 300km south west of London, on the south
coast of Devon.
- Dawlish is a small but popular seaside resort
which benefits from particularly mild and dry weather and has some of
the finest beaches in the U.K. This school is ideal for younger students
or those visiting England for the first time. A specially designed Leisure
Programme makes the most of the schools location and beach activities
are a popular option!
- Special features include a modern sports centre
with a heated swimming pool, public golf course, beach sports, close
to the Dartmoor National Park.

Accommodation
The OISE School is located in the centre of Dawlish and is set in its
own landscaped grounds with a river running through them.
Accommodation
is with Host Families living in Dawlish and Teignmouth (only 4km apart).
Students staying in Dawlish are all within walking distance of the school.
Students in Teignmouth will have a five minute train journey along the
sea-front to and from school. All host families are thoroughly inspected
and their credentials are checked. There will be no other student of the
same mother tongue in the house.

The morning lessons are designed to develop accuracy
in the language and cover: • 09.30 to 11.00 – the
grammatical structures of the language – vocabulary building
• 11.00 to 11.30 – morning break • 11.30 to
13.00 – formal comprehension training exercises – structured
expression training exercises:

Afternoons are devoted to workshops designed
to encourage fluency and a spontaneous use of the language: •
guided debate practice • presentations • exchange
of ideas and experiences • active listening practice

To relax after concentrating on language learning
pupils take part in games and sports activities; the range of which

Clothes/sports equipment
Students are recommended to prepare for good and bad weather and bring
enough warm clothes. British summers are not very predictable! Students should bring suitable sportswear, whitesoled
