Newbury is a traditional English market town located in Berkshire, only 96km west of London and conveniently placed for Oxford, Bath, the glorious beaches on the south coast as well as the ancient druid site of Stonehenge. In addition, the town has excellent rail links to London allowing students to enjoy the peaceful countryside without ever being too far from the hustle and bustle of the capital.
OISE Newbury is located in an impressive Victorian building which dates back to 1859 and was originally a primary school for local children. The interior has been modernised to combine the atmosphere and character of schooling in days gone by with the comfort and excellent study facilities of a modern college. The most recent addition is a brand new residence, opened in 2009.
OISE Newbury is open all year round offering short courses in February, Easter, summer and autumn vacations and term courses throughout the year. The school is spacious with excellent study facilities and also offers academic programmes for GCSE and A level preparation.
All students will have an excursion on a Saturday as per their chosen course, usually to London which could include a walking tour with sights such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben & Houses of Parliament, River Thames, Downing Street and Oxford Street and visits to the British Museum, Covent Garden and the National Gallery.
Homestay students will have one social event per week and spend the other evenings with their host family.
Please note: these are sample leisure programmes only and are subject to change.
