San Francisco is a compact city and most of the central area can be explored on foot. The many hills offer wonderful views over the bay of San Francisco and the city's famous cable cars will save you the effort of the climb. There is so much to be enjoyed: art galleries and museums, sports, beaches, cafes and restaurants, cable car rides, wine-tasting in the famous Napa Valley or a drive along the magnificent Carmel Coast.

Sports facilities are plentiful: tennis, swimming, gyms, beaches and even the possibility to ski at nearby Lake Tahoe.
