Whilst our school is designed with corporate clients in mind, the school nevertheless has a friendly, supportive atmosphere which encourages students to overcome their inhibitions in speaking English.
OISE Oxford - A Profile
Established in 1973, OISE Oxford was the founding Centre of the OISE group. Located in the heart of Oxford our school overlooks the historic Covered Market and some of the city’s finest colleges. In a city as culturally rich and vibrant as Oxford there is never a shortage of things to see and do and with major attractions such as the Bodleian Library, Christ Church College and the Ashmolean Museum within 5 minutes walk of our Centre, there are plenty of activities to occupy even the most studious of minds!
Whilst our Training Centre is designed with corporate clients in mind, the school nevertheless has a friendly, supportive atmosphere which encourages students to overcome their inhibitions in speaking English. We invest a lot of time in getting to know our students in order to make them feel welcome and assist them in reaching their goals.
Our tutors hail from a variety of different backgrounds including Oxford University academics and retired professionals and many have worked at OISE Oxford for more than 10 years. One of our most requested tutors is business specialist Dr Richard Clark who has 30 years’ experience teaching at the school. Educated at Cambridge University with a PhD in English Literature, Dr Clark possesses a broad knowledge of current business thinking and macroeconomics and specialises in teaching business communication skills to managers from financial, marketing and human resource sectors. Others members of our tutor team offer specialisms in academic English, legal English and exam preparation.
Our cultural programme offers students the opportunity to continue their English learning outside of the classroom with a varied selection of 5 seasonal leisure activities per week including theatre trips, concerts, punting, museum trips and weekend excursions. A particular favourite amongst our students is our weekly pub crawl which takes students on a tour of some of the best historic pubs in Oxford including those frequented by famous Oxonians such as J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis.
