Badminton in Bristol; ‘The Birthplace of America’

Bristol is a young, cosmopolitan university city with an interesting mix of traditional and contemporary cultural heritage. Its prosperity has been closely linked to the commercial port where John Cabot sailed from in 1497 to 'discover' North America. Situated approximately 20km from Bath, 120km from Oxford and 205km from London, Bristol is excellently connected to other key points in the country as well as to the rest of Europe. This combined with the city's internationally renowned reputation as a thriving hub of social and cultural attraction makes it a highly desirable study destination for language students. From the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge to the S.S. Great Britain, St. Nicholas Market, the Exploratory Science Museum and a lively arts and music scene; It is clear why Bristol provides an enriching and inspirational setting for a remarkable educational experience in English.

The English Language Courses

The Intensive Summer Curriculum
The Intensive Summer Curriculum is the result of more than 40 years of experience in the world of language study. This full-time course with 23 full hours of tuition per week, in group sizes of 6-8 students maximum provides a highly dynamic and personalised educational experience. The small classes allow the full concentration of the teacher on each pupil as an individual. This course can be adapted to suit all levels, from beginner to advance. Most important is the student’s willingness to work hard and their drive to succeed.

In addition to learning and improving their English, students can expect to develop life skills and learning strategies, work on projects and learn how to become more effective and autonomous learners.

Students are placed into groups according to their English ability and the tuition is always pitched at the highest level to ensure the lessons are challenging. Lessons consist of a substantial 90 minutes and are taught by 2-3 alternating tutors that ensure lessons are at a fast and consistent pace.

The full day of learning continues after lessons through cultural excursions and organised recreational activities, providing further opportunities for the spontaneous use of English.

Throughout the stay their progress is continuously made and consistently assessed through daily assignments, weekly individual coaching sessions and weekly progress checks. At the end of the course the students will return home with their Learner Portfolio full with the achievements they have made during their time with OISE. At the end of the course all students will be sent a certificate which includes a written report along with test results.
