and 205km from London, Bristol is excellently connected to other key points in the country as well as to the rest of Europe. This combined with the
city's internationally renowned reputation as a thriving hub of social and cultural attraction makes it a highly desirable study destination for language
students. From the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge to the S.S. Great Britain, St. Nicholas Market, the Exploratory Science Museum and a lively arts
and music scene; It is clear why Bristol provides an enriching and inspirational setting for a remarkable educational experience in English.
OISE Badminton English Language School
The school at Badminton is over 150 years old and is renowned worldwide. It is the longest running OISE summer school having hosted Young Learner courses for over 40 years. The Badminton Course Leader has led the team at Badminton for over 11 summers, and many of the professors and leisure personnel return to this school year after year adding to the familial atmosphere and tight-knit community of the school.
The school boasts plenty of bright classrooms spread across multiple floors for small intensive classes and larger group activities. The state-of-the-art facilities at Badminton also extend to the leisure and sports amenities, including an indoor swimming pool, hockey and tennis courts, football pitches and basketball courts. There is also a theatre and comfortable on-site residential accommodation. All meals and snacks are provided in the bright conservatory that extends into the pretty and historic main building.
The English Language Courses
The Intensive Summer Curriculum
The Intensive Summer Curriculum is the result of more than 40 years of experience in the world of language study. This full-time course with 23 full hours of tuition per week, in group sizes of 6-8 students maximum provides a highly dynamic and personalised educational experience. The small classes allow the full concentration of the teacher on each pupil as an individual. This course can be adapted to suit all levels, from beginner to advance. Most important is the student’s willingness to work hard and their drive to succeed.

to become more effective and autonomous learners.
Students are placed into groups according to their English ability and the tuition is always pitched at the highest level to ensure the lessons are
challenging. Lessons consist of a substantial 90 minutes and are taught by 2-3 alternating tutors that ensure lessons are at a fast and consistent
The full day of learning continues after lessons through cultural excursions and organised recreational activities, providing further opportunities
for the spontaneous use of English.
Throughout the stay their progress is continuously made and consistently assessed through daily assignments, weekly individual coaching sessions and
weekly progress checks. At the end of the course the students will return home with their Learner Portfolio full with the achievements they have made
during their time with OISE. At the end of the course all students will be sent a certificate which includes a written report along with test results.

The Cambridge Exam Preparation programme
The Cambridge Exam Preparation also covers 23 hours of tuition per week, with a maximum of 8 students per class but focuses on First (FCE) and Advanced (CAE) Certificate training. The course is fast paced and uses a range of stimulating teaching techniques taught by highly experienced professionals to engage students and familiarise them with the exam. Concentrating on the five skills tested in the exam: listening, reading, writing, speaking and use of English, the course covers each area in depth. Authentic past papers are used to simulate the exam situation and familiarise students with managing time constraints.

Leisure and Cultural Programme
In the late afternoon, the students have the opportunity to participate in various lesiure activities; Including football, volleyball, tennis, swimming, dance lessons, jewellery making, decorative painting, quizzes, talent shows and discos. On Saturdays students will attend full-day excursions to London, visiting Covent Gardens, the Science Museum and Harrods, or to Cardiff, the delightful capital of Wales. Every Wednesday there is a half day cultural excursion and often a local excursion on Sundays, such as a shopping spree in Bath, a visit to Berkeley Castle, Weston-Super-Mare, the Bristol Museum or the Bristol Zoo. In this way, the region and England can be further discovered and English can be put to use in realistic scenarios.
